Over time, these enchanting tales of imprisoned maidens, evil enchantresses, handsome princes, and damsels with long golden locks, have been tweaked, adapted, edited, and enjoyed in over 100 languages by children around the world. A year-long festival is being held this year to celebrate these illustrious siblings.

There is a place far away in the East, on hilly terrain and steep cliffs, where it is believed that these rare Asian birds circle the golden roof of a learning center during their visit between Fall and Spring. These beautiful birds have a black head, neck, and tail that distinguishes them from their common counterparts. Revered greatly in Buddhist traditions, they breed in high alpine meadows primarily in the Tibetan plateau.
